Odsherred Bakke (Denmark)

Weather…

Odsherred Bakke denotes the spectacular hilly landscape of the so-called Odsherred Arches in northwestern Zealand. This relief is one of the most prominent examples of a glacial series in Northern Europe, shaped by massive glacial lobes that piled up arc-shaped moraine ridges. The most famous point is Vejrhøj, which at 121 meters is one of Zealand's highest elevations and has a panoramic view over Sejerø Bay. The area has been designated a UNESCO Global Geopark due to its geological significance. Historically, the relief is rich in prehistoric sites, including numerous passage graves and the discovery site of the famous Trundholm Sun Chariot in a nearby bog. The topography alternates between steep ascents, gentle plateaus, and deep depressions that were once submerged under the sea. Today, the contrast between the dry ridges and the fertile Lammefjord plain defines the landscape. This region is not only a geological textbook but also a hub for Danish design and craftsmanship, inspired by the shapes of the relief.
