Zruč nad Sázavou Castle is a prominent historical landmark in Central Bohemia, originating from a Gothic fortress established in the early 14th century. The estate underwent several architectural evolutions, transitioning through Renaissance styles in the 16th century before reaching its current Neo-Gothic appearance. The most significant transformation occurred between 1891 and 1909, commissioned by the Schebek family, who were influential railway pioneers of the era. They redesigned the chateau in a romantic historicist style, incorporating ornate facades and modern 19th-century comforts into the interior. The ensemble is surrounded by an extensive English-style landscape park, celebrated for its rare tree species and scenic paths along the Sázava River. Today, the castle serves as a multifaceted cultural venue, featuring a dedicated doll museum, a tower offering panoramic views, and exhibits on local craftsmanship. Its meticulous preservation makes it a prime example of late 19th-century aristocratic living in the Czech lands.
