Vlašim, a town in Central Bohemia, is primarily known for its chateau and extensive English landscape park. The chateau, originally a Gothic castle, was rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style in the 19th century. The park is one of the oldest and most significant of its kind in the Czech Republic and is home to several romantic structures, including a Chinese pavilion and artificial ruins. Part of the chateau now serves as the Museum of the Podblanicko Region and an environmental education center. Vlašim is also known for its arms manufacturing, particularly through the company Sellier & Bellot, one of the oldest ammunition manufacturers in the world, founded in 1825. The town is situated in the scenic hilly landscape of the Vlašimská pahorkatina.
