Velká Deštná, at 1,115 meters, is the highest peak in the Eagle Mountains (Orlické hory) in the northeastern Czech Republic. The mountain is a favored destination for hikers and cross-country skiers, situated directly along the border with Poland. A major highlight at the summit is the observation tower opened in 2019; its modern wood-and-steel design stands 19 meters tall and gives expansive views of the Eagle Mountains, the Kłodzko region, and as far as the Giant Mountains. Geologically, the massif is dominated by crystalline schists and gneiss, typical for the Sudetes range. The mountain's slopes are covered in dense spruce forests, parts of which are protected within nature reserves to maintain their ecological integrity. Velká Deštná is easily accessible via well-marked paths from the nearby Šerlich settlement and serves as a key hub for regional tourism.
