Temelín Nuclear Power Station (Czech Republic)

Weather…

The Temelín Nuclear Power Station (ETE) is the most powerful electricity generating facility in the Czech Republic, located in South Bohemia near Týn nad Vltavou. Construction commenced in 1987, but the plant underwent significant technical modifications to align with international safety standards before the two units were commissioned in 2000 and 2002. The facility operates two VVER-1000 pressurized water reactors, providing a total net capacity of approximately 2,160 megawatts. Temelín generates about 20% of the country's total electricity consumption, playing a vital role in national energy security and carbon reduction efforts. Its four massive cooling towers, standing 155 meters tall, are prominent landmarks visible from great distances. Managed by the ČEZ Group, the station is subject to rigorous international inspections and remains a focal point of Czech industrial strategy and future energy planning.
