💡 Tips
- Sedlec (home to the Bone Church) and the historic center are far apart; take the local train or tourist bus between them.
- Tickets for the Sedlec Ossuary MUST be purchased at the nearby information center, not at the church entrance.
- Book your silver mine tour well in advance. Note that it involves wearing a hard hat and navigating narrow, dark spaces.
- Visit St. Barbara's Church in the late afternoon to catch the memorable sunset light filtering through the stained glass.
- Wear very comfortable shoes, as the paths leading up to St. Barbara involve steep and uneven cobblestones.

Kutná Hora is one of the most historically significant cities in the Czech Republic, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1995. During the Middle Ages, it was the second most important city in the Kingdom of Bohemia after Prague, thanks to its vast silver deposits. The architectural jewel of the city is the Cathedral of St. Barbara, a masterpiece of Late Gothic design dedicated to the patron saint of miners. Another distinctive monument is the Sedlec Ossuary, a chapel artistically decorated with the bones of over 40,000 people. The Italian Court (Vlašský dvůr) once served as the royal mint and residence, where the Prague groschen was struck. The historic center, with its narrow streets, the Stone House, and the medieval stone fountain, preserves the atmosphere of the silver boom era. Today, Kutná Hora is a major tourist and cultural hub, hosting numerous festivals and maintaining its unique mining heritage.
