Hronov is located in northeastern Bohemia on the banks of the Metuje River, near the border with Poland. The town is inextricably linked with the writer Alois Jirásek, who was born here in 1851 and significantly shaped its cultural heritage. Every year, it hosts 'Jiráskův Hronov,' Europe's oldest amateur theater festival, which has been held continuously since 1931. Architectural landmarks include the neo-Baroque municipal theater and the Church of All Saints with its unique detached 17th-century wooden bell tower. The surrounding area features mineral springs known for their healing properties.
