Zelovo is located near Sinj on the high slopes of the Svilaja mountains. The village is known throughout Croatia for its unique craft: the production of wooden tobacco pipes (lula) and traditional musical instruments such as the tamburica. This tradition has been maintained by local families for centuries. The houses are built solidly of stone to withstand the strong bora winds in winter. The area gives spectacular opportunities for mountaineers and hikers. The summit of Svilaja is accessible from the village via marked trails and has a panoramic view over the Cetina valley as far as the sea and islands. The air here is exceptionally clean and fresh, making Zelovo a popular destination for day-trippers from Split and Sinj. Traditional agriculture is still practiced in Zelovo. Visitors can taste homemade honey, cheese, and brandy directly from the producers. Every summer, local festivals are held where traditional folklore and the village's craftsmanship take center stage. It is a place where time seems to have stood still, convenient for an escape from modern everyday life.
