Vid is located in the Neretva Delta, about 4 kilometers from Metković. The village is internationally renowned for the Narona Archaeological Museum, Croatia's first 'in-situ' museum. It was built directly over the excavations of an Augusteum, a temple dedicated to the Roman Emperor Augustus. Here, visitors can admire 15 monumental marble statues discovered in the 1990s. Vid is a living monument, where ancient stones are integrated into the walls of modern houses. Beyond history, Vid provides a unique natural experience on the banks of the Norin stream. The river is characterized by extremely clean and cold spring water. A trip in a traditional 'trupica' or 'lađa', the narrow boats of the Neretva, through the surrounding marshes is a must-do activity. Culinarilly, Vid is famous for its Neretva specialties: frog and eel stew (Neretvanski brudet) are among the delicacies served in local restaurants. Every year, the Marathon of the Lađa takes place here, a rowing competition celebrating the region's traditions.
