Kula Norinska is situated in the heart of the Neretva Delta, near the town of Metković. The village is named after the fortress of the same name, a massive tower built by the Ottomans in the 16th century to control the river route against the Venetians. Today, the tower stands as a prominent landmark on the right bank of the Neretva, testifying to the strategic importance of this region as a borderland between East and West. The surrounding area is a unique wetland, renowned for its rich birdlife and fertile plantations of tangerines and watermelons. Visitors can enjoy boat safaris in traditional 'lađa' vessels through the delta's narrow channels. The municipality is an important part of the annual 'Maraton lađa' boat race. Gastronomy here is distinct, with frog and eel stew (brodetto) being local delicacies. Kula Norinska is easily reached via the D8 state road or the A1 motorway exit at Ploče.
