Sustjepan is located on the western bank of the Rijeka Dubrovačka, a fjord-like sea inlet near Dubrovnik. The settlement is named after the Church of Saint Stephen (Sveti Stjepan), which is among the oldest sacral buildings in the region, with foundations dating back to the pre-Romanesque period.
