Prhati is a small village within the Barban municipality in the heart of Istria. The village embodies the peaceful, rural side of the peninsula, surrounded by green meadows, oak forests, and cultivated fields. Barban itself, just minutes away, is famous for the knightly game 'Trka na prstenac' (Race to the Ring), which attracts thousands of visitors every August. Prhati has the handy quiet counterpart to this. The village architecture is classic Istrian, with old stone houses often surrounded by large courtyards and dry-stone walls ('Gromače'). Many of these estates have been converted in recent years into high-quality holiday homes with pools, while preserving their original charm. The area around Prhati is a paradise for cyclists and hikers, as numerous marked trails lead through the varied landscape down to the Bay of Raša. Culinary-wise, the Barbanština region is known for its traditional cuisine. Local taverns serve homemade pasta like fuži or pljukanci with wild game goulash or asparagus. Honey production is also widespread in this area. Prhati is the excellent place for families or groups seeking seclusion but still wanting to reach larger cities like Pula or Labin in 20 to 30 minutes.
