Martinčići is located in the green heart of Istria, not far from the medieval artist town of Grožnjan. The village is characterized by a hilly landscape that strongly reminds of Tuscany. Here you will find peace and authenticity amidst vineyards and olive groves that yield some of the region's best products. The history of the settlement is closely linked to agriculture and Venice's rule over Istria. The architecture is typically Istrian: stone houses with small windows and cozy courtyards (baladur). Many of these houses have been restored in recent years and now serve as exclusive holiday accommodations for nature lovers. Culinary-wise, Martinčići is a paradise for foodies. The area is famous for white and black truffles found in the nearby forests of the Mirna valley. Local wine varieties Malvazija and Teran are excellent companions to Istrian pasta specialties such as fuži or pljukanci. The location of Martinčići is convenient for cyclists, as the famous Parenzana bike path runs very close by. Hikes through the surrounding valleys also offer spectacular views. The coastal towns of Novigrad and Umag are only a 20-minute drive away, making the place a well-suited base for exploring North Istria.
