Tribunj is the epitome of a Dalmatian coastal village, defined by its dense cluster of stone houses on a tiny island first settled in the 15th century for protection against the Ottomans. The village has preserved its original charm and remains famous for its spirited fishing traditions. One of the most unique local events is the donkey race, held every summer since the 1950s, celebrating the animal that was once vital for life in rural Dalmatia. Towering above the village is St. Nicholas Hill, home to a chapel built in 1452, offering a dramatic view of the Šibenik archipelago and the Kornati National Park. Despite the growth of modern tourism and a high-end marina, Tribunj remains a sanctuary of peace and authenticity, featuring crystal-clear waters and numerous hidden swimming spots in the Sovlja cove.
