Djambala Plateau

Weather…
Water temperature…
The Djambala Plateau is part of the Batéké Plateaus in the central Republic of the Congo, representing a prominent highland area. With an average elevation of 800 meters above sea level, it gives a significantly cooler and more pleasant climate than the surrounding lowlands. The geology of the plateau is dominated by thick layers of sand deposited during the Tertiary period, forming a sandy, highly permeable surface today. Consequently, surface rivers are rare, while deep canyons and gorges border the plateau's edges. The town of Djambala, situated on the plateau, serves as a vital administrative hub. The vegetation consists primarily of highland savanna with forest galleries interspersed in the valleys. Historically, the plateau was a core territory of the Téké people's Anziku Kingdom. The vast, open landscape is now important for both livestock farming and the strategic monitoring of central transport routes.
