Pichilemu
Pichilemu is widely recognized as the surfing capital of Chile, drawing wave riders from across the globe to the legendary Punta de Lobos. Beyond the impressive swells, the town features a laid-back coastal atmosphere with long stretches of distinctive black sand beaches. Visitors can explore the historic Ross Park, featuring century-old palm trees and a former casino that now serves as a national monument. The local culinary scene is heavily focused on fresh seafood, with the traditional empanadas de mariscos being a staple at local food stalls and restaurants. The town is situated in the O'Higgins region and is easily accessible via a 3 to 4-hour bus ride from Santiago. While summer (December to February) brings lively crowds and beachgoers, surfers prefer the larger swells that arrive during the autumn and winter months.
