Snuol is an important market town in Kratie Province, eastern Cambodia, strategically located at the junction of National Highways 7 and 13. The town serves as a crucial link for trade with Vietnam and is famous for its extensive rubber plantations, which have defined the landscape since the French colonial era. Historically, Snuol gained sad notoriety during the Vietnam War, particularly through the Battle of Snuol in 1971, in which the town was almost completely destroyed. Today, the region is a hub for agro-industry, producing pepper and cashew nuts alongside rubber. The nearby Snuol Wildlife Sanctuary once protected vast forest areas but faces challenges today from agricultural expansion. The town itself is a lively transshipment point for local goods and features insights into the rural life of eastern Cambodia.
