My Tho
My Tho, the capital of Tien Giang province, is the historic gateway to the Mekong Delta. Situated on the north bank of the Tien River, it is the starting point for boat trips to the four famous islands: Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix, and Turtle. Here, travelers can experience authentic delta life, passing through narrow canals lined with water coconut trees in traditional rowing sampans. The city's spiritual heart is the Vinh Trang Pagoda, a unique architectural fusion of Vietnamese, Chinese, and colonial European styles. My Tho is also a paradise for fruit lovers, with vast orchards producing exotic treats like durian and longan. Make sure to try 'Hủ tiếu Mỹ Tho', a local noodle soup that is a signature dish of the region. Just a 90-minute drive from Ho Chi Minh City, My Tho is highly accessible. The best time to visit is during the dry season from December to May, when the weather is pleasant and the tropical fruit gardens are at their most productive.
