Purchase honey directly from local beekeepers; the quality is exceptional due to the diverse wild flowers in the fields.
Try this traditional pastry at small bakeries in the town center, usually served fresh in the morning.
Visit a simple grill house in the center for authentic Bulgarian patties (kyufte) or kebapche.
🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots
The central market square is the best place for fresh fruit, vegetables, and handmade cheese from the region.
Look for homemade lyutenitsa (pepper and tomato spread), often sold by locals at the market.
The small green area around the Church of St. Paraskeva gives shaded benches and a calm atmosphere.
Walks along the endless wheat and sunflower fields at the outskirts provide total seclusion.

Valchedram is a town in northwestern Bulgaria, located in the fertile Danubian Plain within the Montana Province. The name is believed to derive from the wolves that were once numerous in the surrounding forests. A prominent cultural monument in the town is the Church of Saint Paraskeva, completed in 1936, which architecturally resembles Saint Isaac's Cathedral in Saint Petersburg. Valchedram is situated in the heart of the Zlatiya region, known for its high-quality chernozem (black earth) soils and considered one of Bulgaria's major granaries. The settlement officially received town status in 1969 and has since served as the administrative and economic center for the surrounding villages. Agriculture, particularly the cultivation of grain and sunflowers, is the backbone of the local economy. Despite its rural seclusion, Valchedram maintains a rich cultural heritage and a strong local identity in the border region near the Danube.
