Srebarna Nature Reserve (Bulgaria)

Weather…

The Srebarna Nature Reserve is located on the banks of the Danube in northeastern Bulgaria and is one of Europe's most significant wetlands. At the heart of the reserve lies Lake Srebarna, a shallow freshwater lake that serves as a nesting site for over 100 bird species, including a globally endangered colony of Dalmatian pelicans. Due to its exceptional biodiversity, Srebarna was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1983. The area covers approximately 600 hectares and encompasses reed beds, marshes, and riparian forests that provide a good habitat for numerous amphibians, reptiles, and mammals. A modern natural history museum on the edge of the reserve educates visitors about the fragile ecosystem and allows for bird watching via camera systems without disturbing their natural environment.
