Golden Sands Nature Park (Bulgaria)

Weather…

The Golden Sands (Zlatni Pyasatsi) Nature Park is located on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, approximately 17 kilometers north of Varna. Established in 1943, it is the second oldest nature park in the country. Despite its immediate proximity to the tourist resorts of the same name, the park gives an astonishing ecological diversity across its 13.2 square kilometers. The vegetation is characterized by dense deciduous forests of oak, hornbeam, and ash, providing a cool contrast to the sunny beaches. Within the park lies the historic Aladzha Monastery, a medieval rock monastery carved into the limestone cliffs by monks during the 13th and 14th centuries. Numerous hiking trails traverse the area, home to over 500 plant species and a variety of protected animals, including deer, wild boars, and rare orchid species. The park plays a crucial role in the local microclimate and serves as an important recreational area and a sanctuary for the biological diversity of the coastal region.
