The Betim automotive plant is one of the largest vehicle assembly plants in the world and a key pillar of Brazil's car industry. For visitors, it demonstrates mass vehicle production and the industrial strength of the Minas Gerais region.
Visiting
The plant is an active manufacturing site, usually not open to the public, but occasional guided tours for registered groups are offered. From the nearby BR-381 highway, the huge halls and parking lots with thousands of new vehicles are visible.
Where to view it
The best viewpoint is the parking lot of the Betim Shopping mall, offering a good view of the plant grounds. The BR-381 overpass at the main gate also provides an impressive look at the huge site.

The plant mainly produces passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, stored on the parking lots. At dealerships in Betim and Belo Horizonte, visitors can buy the locally assembled vehicles and often arrange test drives.

Production runs in shifts on weekdays, so the plant is most active Monday through Friday. Deliveries to dealers happen year-round, but the months before new model years (August to October) are especially busy.
