Ledegem is a Flemish municipality in the province of West Flanders, consisting of the districts of Ledegem, Rollegem-Kapelle, and Sint-Eloois-Winkel. Geographically, it is situated in a fertile agricultural region between the cities of Roeselare and Kortrijk. The history of the area is deeply rooted in farming, which is still reflected in the landscape with numerous historical farmsteads. An architectural highlight is St. Peter's Church, whose origins date back to the Middle Ages and which has been rebuilt several times over the centuries. During World War I, the municipality was located near the front line and suffered significant damage, after which many buildings were reconstructed in the 1920s reconstruction style. Today, Ledegem is a modern residential community with a well-developed local economy characterized primarily by small and medium-sized enterprises. The municipality maintains an active social life and is known for its cycling tradition, typical for this region of Flanders. Despite its proximity to industrial centers, Ledegem has preserved its village character and vast green spaces.
