Svisloch-Berezina Reserve (Belarus)

Weather…

The Svisloch-Berezina Biological Reserve, located at the confluence of two major waterways in the heart of the republic, is an outstanding example of the high ecological value of intact river floodplains. This extremely dynamic transition zone between land and water is characterized by regular spring floods, which create a vast network of temporary lakes, wet sedge meadows, and dense riparian forests. The reserve is considered one of the country's most valuable fish spawning grounds, especially for pike and other native freshwater fish, which find convenient reproductive conditions in the shallow, warm waters. Furthermore, the varied landscape gives protected nesting sites for specialized birds of prey, primarily the Osprey, as well as a safe habitat for the European pond turtle amidst extensive carpets of water lilies.
