Located in the Kitzbühel Alps, Fieberbrunn has transformed from a mining village into an international winter sports hotspot. Since its merger with Saalbach Hinterglemm and Leogang, it has become a key part of the Skicircus, one of Austria's largest interlinked ski areas. The town is particularly famous for its freeride terrain on the Wildseeloder mountain, which hosts the Freeride World Tour annually due to its consistent powder snow conditions. In summer, the Wildseelodersee lake at 1,859 meters features a mystical setting for hikers. The town's name originates from a healing spring ('Fieber-Bründl') that allegedly cured Countess Margarete Maultasch of her fever in the 14th century. Families are well-served at 'Timok’s Wilde Welt' adventure park at the cable car's middle station, which features a mountain coaster and water games. Local cuisine revolves around hearty Tyrolean dishes like Kaspressknödel (cheese dumplings). Fieberbrunn is uniquely accessible by train, sitting directly on the Giselabahn railway line. The best time to visit is from December to March for snow reliability, and June to September for alpine hiking with clear visibility.
