Odzun Church (Armenia)

Weather…

The Odzun Church is a 6th-century Armenian basilica located in the village of Odzun within the Lori Province. The structure is distinguished by its rare architectural style, being a three-naved basilica built on an elevated platform. Particularly noteworthy is the free-standing funerary monument next to the church, which houses two relief-decorated steles within a double-arched frame. The church was constructed using pink felsite, giving it a striking appearance that stands out against the green landscape of the Lori plateau. Between 2012 and 2014, the building underwent extensive restoration to secure the structural integrity of the historic slate roof and the walls. Today, Odzun is considered one of the most significant examples of early Christian Armenian architecture and attracts numerous researchers and pilgrims.
