Binga Falls
Binga Falls on the Keve River is one of the most prominent natural attractions in Cuanza Sul Province. The water plunges over a horseshoe-shaped rocky edge into a wide basin below. Travelers frequently stop here while driving between Luanda and the southern provinces to admire and photograph the impressive falls. The area surrounding the waterfall is characterized by lush tropical vegetation and steep cliffs. Below the main cascade, natural rock pools form, which are occasionally used by locals for swimming, though the strong currents require caution. Nearby, the remains of an old bridge serve as a reminder of colonial-era infrastructure in the region. Local street vendors often sell fresh fruit and grilled meats to passing visitors. The falls are located right along the main road leading from the coastal city of Porto Amboim inland towards Gabela. The drive from Luanda takes approximately five to six hours on paved routes. Visiting is particularly spectacular at the end of the rainy season in April or May, when the river carries the largest volume of water.
