Caotinha is a small coastal settlement in Benguela Province, renowned for its secluded beach framed by dramatic rocks. The bay is located slightly off the main transport routes and is characterized by exceptionally clear, blue water. Travelers seek out this spot to swim and relax away from the busy city beaches. The coastline is dominated by rugged cliffs and ochre-colored rock formations that contrast sharply with the deep blue of the Atlantic Ocean. The underwater environment around the rocks is well-suited for snorkeling, as the water is much calmer here than on the open coast. Local vendors occasionally sell fresh seafood and cold drinks directly by the water. Caotinha is reachable from the city of Benguela via a dirt road, making a sturdy vehicle advantageous for the journey. The drive takes approximately half an hour from the provincial capital. The best time to visit is during the dry season between May and September, when temperatures are comfortably warm and rainfall is almost non-existent.
