Sant Esteve Church

The Church of Sant Esteve is the primary parish church of the capital, Andorra la Vella, and a significant historical landmark located in the country's political heart. The building dates back to the 11th and 12th centuries, with the Romanesque period best preserved in the semicircular apse, which is decorated externally with blind arches. Over the centuries, the church has been expanded and modified several times, most notably in the 20th century under the direction of architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch, giving it its current monumental appearance with an imposing granite facade. Inside, the church houses significant works of art, including Baroque altarpieces and a statue of Our Lady of Sorrows.
