Borsh is a low-key spot on the Albanian coast, famous for its impressive nature and the longest continuous beach in the country, stretching about seven kilometers. The town is often called the 'village of water' because numerous natural springs emerge from the surrounding mountains and flow through the village. A special highlight is the waterfall restaurant in the center, where you can dine right next to cascading mountain water. The landscape is dominated by thousands of olive trees, making Borsh one of the most important centers of olive oil production in Albania. Above the village, on a prominent cliff, sits Borsh Castle (also known as Sopot Castle). The fortress originally dates back to antiquity and gives an unparalleled panoramic view of the Ionian Sea and the coastline as far as Greece. A walk to the castle leads through wild nature and past the remains of an old mosque and Byzantine fortifications. Borsh beach itself is expansive, with a mix of sand and pebbles, offering plenty of space and peace even in high season compared to neighboring towns. Borsh has maintained a very authentic, rural atmosphere. There are no large hotel complexes, but rather family-run guesthouses and small holiday homes. The local cuisine is excellent and uses the region's rich resources: olive oil, honey, citrus fruits, and fresh lamb. In the small cafes along the road, you can observe local life and experience the famous Albanian hospitality. Access is via the coastal road between Vlorë and Sarandë. The best time to visit is from May to September, with spring being particularly beautiful when the entire region is in bloom. Borsh is the convenient destination for travelers seeking long beaches, history, and untouched nature away from the main tourist paths.
