Kajaki Hydroelectric Plant

The Kajaki Hydroelectric Plant, located on the Helmand River in the province of the same name, is a crucial source of energy for southern Afghanistan, especially for Helmand and Kandahar provinces. The dam was originally built in the 1950s by the United States to regulate irrigation and generate electricity.
