State House Lusaka

State House in Lusaka is the official residence and workplace of the President of the Republic of Zambia. The stately building was constructed in the early 1930s and completed in 1935, originally serving as the residence for the Governor of Northern Rhodesia. Designed by the architect Walmsley, the structure is a prime example of colonial architecture with Neo-Classical influences. The residence is set within expansive, manicured grounds that host a variety of flora and wildlife. Upon Zambia's independence in 1964, Kenneth Kaunda became the first president to occupy the premises.
