Fortín El Zamuro (Venezuela)

Weather…

Fortín El Zamuro is a historic fortress in Ciudad Bolívar, constructed on the city's highest point. It was built between 1902 and 1903 to defend the city during the turbulent period of the Liberating Revolution. Its strategic location atop Cerro El Zamuro provided a controlling view over the Orinoco River and the city's access points. The fort gained fame as the site of the Battle of Ciudad Bolívar in July 1903, the last major engagement of that civil war, which solidified the victory of Juan Vicente Gomez. The architecture consists of solid stone walls and bastions designed for early 20th-century modern artillery. Today, the complex serves as a viewpoint and historical museum documenting the military history of Bolívar state.
