Alcasa Aluminum Plant (Venezuela)

Weather…

Aluminio del Caroní (Alcasa) was the pioneer of the aluminum industry in Venezuela, located in the industrial zone of Ciudad Guayana. The plant was commissioned in 1967 as a result of a strategic partnership between the Venezuelan state and the Reynolds Metals Company from the USA. Alcasa specialized not only in primary aluminum smelting but also in downstream processing into sheets, foils, and extruded profiles. Over the decades, Alcasa became a key supplier for the national manufacturing industry. Its geographic proximity to the Caroní and Orinoco rivers facilitated the efficient arrival of raw materials and the shipping of finished goods. Historically, Alcasa marks the beginning of Venezuela's industrial diversification in the Guayana region. Despite the technological aging of some equipment in recent years, the plant remains a historical symbol of metallurgical progress in the country and a major employer in the Bolívar region.
