Angostura Bridge (Venezuela)

Weather…

The Angostura Bridge is a majestic suspension bridge that spans the Orinoco River near Ciudad Bolívar in southeastern Venezuela. When it was inaugurated on January 6, 1967, it became the first bridge to cross the Orinoco, ending centuries of isolation for the Guayana region. The bridge has a total length of 1,678 meters and features a central span of 712 meters, which was a record for South America at the time of its completion. Designed by Venezuelan engineer Paul Lustgarten, the structure is supported by two massive towers that rise 119 meters above the riverbed. The vertical clearance of 41 meters allows for the passage of large river vessels. For nearly 40 years, it was the only road link across the lower Orinoco until the Orinokia Bridge was built downstream in 2006.
