Colle Vaticano Summit (Vatican)

Weather…

The summit of Colle Vaticano, also known as the Vatican Hill, is the highest point of Vatican City, reaching an elevation of approximately 75 to 76 meters above sea level. This elevation is located in the western part of the territory and marks the topographical center of the Vatican Gardens. Historically, the hill was home to gardens in antiquity and later to Nero's Circus before achieving worldwide fame through the construction of St. Peter's Basilica. The geography of the summit has a strategic overview of the entire city-state as well as extensive parts of Rome. Important facilities, such as the broadcasting equipment of Vatican Radio and sections of the papal gardens, are located on this plateau today. The ascent to the summit leads through artistically designed terraces that reflect various epochs of garden art. Despite its low absolute altitude, the significance of this site as the seat of papal authority and as the geographic center of the world's smallest state is of immense global importance.
