Pohrebyshche Palace (Ukraine)

Weather…

The palace in Pohrebyshche, located in the Vinnytsia Oblast, was once a magnificent residential center closely tied to the history of the Wiśniowiecki and later the Rzewuski families. During the 17th century, Pohrebyshche served as a significant fortified town, though it was nearly razed during the Khmelnytsky Uprising. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the Rzewuski family established an elegant palace complex here, noted for its refined architecture and extensive art collections. The estate was surrounded by a sprawling landscape park designed according to the prevailing European horticultural standards of the time. Throughout the Soviet era, the building suffered extensive damage and was repurposed for various administrative functions, resulting in the loss of much of its original interior decoration. Despite these changes, the site remains a vital testament to the aristocratic culture of Podolia, reflecting the former wealth and influence of the regional landed gentry.
