Çanakkale is strategically located at the narrowest point of the Dardanelles, blending rich military history with an animated maritime vibe. Visitors are drawn to the legendary ruins of ancient Troy and the moving memorials of the Gallipoli campaign. The waterfront promenade features the iconic Trojan Horse replica donated from the 2004 movie production. The region also serves as a gateway to the serene islands of Bozcaada and Gökçeada, known for their vineyards. Local cuisine shines with fresh seafood and the unique cheese-based dessert, Peynir Helvası. Spring and autumn offer the best climate for exploring outdoor archaeological sites. It is easily reachable by bus or ferry from Istanbul and Izmir.
