Skhira Oil Terminal (Tunisia)

Weather…

The Skhira Oil Terminal, located in the Gulf of Gabes, is Tunisia's most important energy hub. It was commissioned in the 1960s to facilitate the shipping of crude oil from the El Borma field in the south of the country, as well as from Algeria. The facility is operated by TRAPSA (Compagnie des Transports par Pipelines au Sahara), which controls a 775-kilometer-long pipeline. Skhira features deeper waters than most other ports in the region, allowing for the berthing of supertankers with a water depth of up to 15 meters. In addition to crude oil exports, the terminal serves as a storage site for strategic fuel reserves and petrochemical products. The facility includes massive tank farms with a total capacity of several million barrels. Skhira is a critical point for national security, handling a significant portion of Tunisia's energy exports and imports.
