Ko Lipe
Ko Lipe is a slice of paradise located in the Adang-Rawi Archipelago, near the Malaysian border. Famous for its powdery white sand and some of the clearest waters in Thailand, it lives up to its 'Maldives of Thailand' moniker. The island's small size allows visitors to easily walk between its three main beaches: Pattaya, Sunrise, and Sunset Beach. The island is surrounded by the rich reefs of Tarutao National Park, making it a dream destination for snorkelers and divers. Bustling soft corals and schools of tropical fish are accessible just meters from the shore. Beyond the water, the central Walking Street provides a lively atmosphere with a wide selection of international dining, local shops, and bars. While Ko Lipe has seen significant development, it still retains a distinct island charm. Visitors can take longtail boats to nearby uninhabited islands like Koh Adang for hiking and more secluded beaches. Access is primarily by speedboat from the mainland port of Pak Bara. The prime season is from November to April, when the island is fully operational and the weather is at its best.

Our bike ride begins on the quiet shores of Talo Izumi Beach, a perfect spot to take a deep breath. We then pedal leisurely over to Su Ta Beach, where the traditional island flair of local fishermen is truly palpable. By midday, we find pleasant shade under the trees at Sunset Beach. The heat of the day is best endured here during a relaxing break far away from the hustle and bustle, perhaps swinging gently in a hammock. In the afternoon, we cycle to the hidden sand strip of Ao Ta Lo So, which is ideal for a light snack. The short distances across this small island make cycling around incredibly pleasant and virtually effortless. We conclude our day at the eastern bay of Ao Khra, where the sea is shallow and highly inviting. With our feet in the warm water, we allow the peaceful atmosphere of the bay to completely wash over us.
