Ban Khao Pi Lai is located in Phang Nga province, just a short drive across the Sarasin Bridge from Phuket. Despite the proximity to the bustling neighboring island, this place feels like another world. The coast here is vast and wild, characterized by casuarina trees and golden sand. The most famous landmark is the old, dilapidated wooden pier of Khao Pilai, which is a favorite subject for photographers, especially during sunset. Khao Pilai Beach stretches for several kilometers and features plenty of space for lonely walks. The surf here can be a bit stronger than in Phuket's protected bays, giving the atmosphere a wild charm. Nearby is La Toh Bay, a smaller bay that is somewhat more protected and gives clear water for swimming. The tourist infrastructure here is minimal, which makes up the charm for individual travelers. The surroundings offer luxury resorts that blend harmoniously into nature, as well as local food stalls serving authentic Thai food. A trip to the nearby waterfalls in Phang Nga or a boat tour through the famous Phang Nga Bay are easily possible from here. Ban Khao Pi Lai is the good place for travelers who want the amenities of Phuket within reach but prefer the tranquility of an untouched coast.
