The Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, is a Buddhist museum belonging to the Fo Guang Shan order. Construction began in 2003 and the museum opened in 2011. It houses one of the world's largest seated Buddha statues, 36 m tall, cast in bronze. The museum covers 100 hectares and includes four main buildings: the Main Hall, Stupa, Bodhisattva Hall, and Pagoda precinct. Exhibits feature Buddhist relics, including purported tooth relics of the historical Buddha. The site also functions as an active monastery. Architecture blends traditional Chinese and modern styles. Annual visitation exceeds 2 million. The grounds include gardens, ponds, and a water-and-light show. The Fo Guang Shan order was founded in 1967 by Master Hsing Yun.
