Piz della Drausa Nord (Switzerland)

Weather…

Piz della Drosa Nord is a 3,121-meter peak in the Livigno Alps, situated on the border between Switzerland and Italy. It forms the northern end of the Drosa massif and lies within a barren high-altitude zone shaped by glacial erosion and scree slopes. Geologically, the mountain is composed of metamorphic rocks from the Austroalpine crystalline basement. The summit provides an impressive view over Val Bernina and the glaciated north faces of the Bernina Range. Due to its location away from main climbing routes, Piz della Drosa Nord is less frequently ascended than neighboring peaks, making it an attractive goal for experienced mountaineers seeking solitude. The ascent requires sure-footedness and experience in navigating pathless terrain. Historically, the ridge served as a marker for the international border and was precisely mapped during national surveying efforts. The sparse vegetation is limited to specialized alpine lichens and mosses.
