Kosti Inland Port (Sudan)

Weather…

Kosti Inland Port is the premier logistics hub on the White Nile in Sudan, located strategically in the White Nile State. It serves as a vital transshipment point where the railway line originating from Khartoum meets the river transport corridors heading south. The port is essential for the movement of heavy goods, including fuel, construction materials, and grain, which are loaded onto large river barges bound for destinations like Malakal and Juba in South Sudan. Its infrastructure features extensive warehousing and loading facilities integrated with the national rail network, making it a cornerstone of regional trade. Beyond its commercial role, Kosti is a critical junction for humanitarian aid distribution. The presence of the Kosti Bridge, one of the few permanent crossings over the White Nile in the area, further enhances its importance by linking the eastern and western regions of Sudan, ensuring a steady flow of overland and riverine traffic.
