Tajoura is located on the Mediterranean coast of Libya, approximately 14 kilometers east of the capital city, Tripoli. The city has a rich historical background, serving as a significant center of resistance in the 16th century against Spanish occupation and the Knights of St. John. During the Ottoman era, it functioned as a strategic naval base for the empire's fleet in the Mediterranean. In modern times, Tajoura is well-known for its fertile agricultural lands, where citrus fruits and olives are the primary crops. The city also hosts important industrial facilities, including a prominent truck assembly plant. During the 2011 Libyan Revolution, Tajoura played a crucial role as an early bastion of opposition to the regime in the western region.
