Pasikuda
Pasikuda is renowned for having one of the longest stretches of shallow coastline in the world. Visitors can walk hundreds of meters into the sea with the crystal-clear water barely reaching their knees. This unique geographical feature makes the horseshoe-shaped bay a safe haven for families and non-swimmers, as the waters are virtually current-free. Since the end of the civil war, Pasikuda has transformed into a hub for luxury tourism, featuring a row of high-end resorts along its pristine white sands. The area is a prime spot for water sports, including jet-skiing, windsurfing, and snorkeling among spirited nearby coral reefs. The marine life here is exceptionally colorful and well-preserved. The best time to visit is between May and September when the east coast enjoys dry weather and calm, mirror-like seas. Pasikuda provides a more secluded and upscale experience compared to the busy beaches of the south. A short trip to the nearby city of Batticaloa provides a cultural touch with its historic fort and lagoons.
