Port of Bilbao (Spain)

Weather…

The Port of Bilbao in the Bay of Biscay is northern Spain's maritime gateway to the Atlantic and is of fundamental importance for the heavy industry of the Basque Country. Grown historically through the export of iron ore, it has evolved into a highly specialized center for industrial equipment, steel products, and petrochemical goods. The extensive port facilities in Santurtzi and Zierbena offer state-of-the-art infrastructure for heavy-lift transport and Ro-Ro traffic, especially for the intensive trade with Great Britain and Northern Europe. A major liquefied natural gas terminal and adjacent refineries also make the port a critical energy hub for the Iberian Peninsula. Through the construction of new breakwaters, land has been reclaimed from the sea to create space for future-oriented logistics centers.
