Meliana is a representative village of the Valencian Huerta, a fertile agricultural plain surrounding Valencia. Located just a few kilometers north of the city, it maintains a strong connection to its agricultural roots. Meliana is especially famous for the cultivation of 'chufa' (tiger nuts), the main ingredient for horchata, a refreshing milk-like drink. A visit to Meliana gives a glimpse into the traditional Huerta life. You can visit the Nolla Mosaic Factory (Palauet de Nolla), an architectural gem that was once a famous ceramics factory. The town also has a beautiful parish church. However, the best experience is to walk or cycle through the fields, dotted with canals and traditional farmhouses (alquerías). Meliana is very well connected to Valencia. Line 3 of Metrovalencia provides a quick link to the city center. It's the well-suited destination for a half-day trip to escape the city's hustle. It can be visited all year round, but in summer you can taste the freshest horchata directly from the producers.
