Badia del Vallès, one of the youngest and most densely populated municipalities in Catalonia, was conceived in the 1970s as a housing project. Its most remarkable feature is its town plan, intentionally designed to resemble the shape of Spain and Portugal, with streets and squares named after regions and rivers of the peninsula. This planned city was built to accommodate the influx of workers to the Barcelona metropolitan area. The architecture consists mainly of large apartment blocks characteristic of the era. Badia del Vallès is a functional residential city with all the necessary services and green spaces for its residents. It is well-connected to Barcelona, which can be reached in about 30 minutes by train or bus. As a residential area, it's not a typical tourist destination, but its unique urban concept makes it an interesting case study for city planners and architects. Any time of year is suitable for a visit, as the focus is on its urban layout.
