Albatera is a municipality in the province of Alicante, located in the heart of the Vega Baja del Segura comarca. This area is known as the 'Orchard of Europe', and Albatera plays an important role as a major producer of high-quality pomegranates, figs, and citrus fruits. The town's historical heritage is evident in the impressive Church of Santiago Apóstol, a jewel of 18th-century Levantine baroque architecture. Every year in July, the town celebrates its Moors and Christians festival, a colourful spectacle with parades and music. The nearby Sierra de Crevillente has hiking trails with panoramic views. Albatera is well-connected to the AP-7 motorway and is close to Alicante-Elche airport. The best times to visit are spring and autumn to avoid the summer heat and to enjoy the blooming landscape.
